Running in honor of: Jim Even

Bio: This September, I will be participating in Hit the Bricks, Wake’s annual fundraiser for the Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Foundation. During Hit the Bricks, participants gather on Hearn Plaza and walk or run around the quad together while enjoying live music, food, activities, and listening to guest speaker cancer survivors. This event is hosted by Wake students and faculty in honor of Brian Piccolo, a Wake Forest alumni who played for the Chicago Bears for four years and passed away at age 26 from embryonal cell carcinoma. In addition to supporting the Brian Piccolo Foundation for cancer research, I will also be participating for a close family friend, Jim Even, who sadly passed away this past June. Mr. Even had been battling stage 4 stomach cancer for the last four years and was truly an admirable fighter, father, and friend. We will always remembers the memories we built with him and know that his spirit lives on through his loved ones. Furthermore, please join me in donating to the Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Fund to support researchers, patients and their families like Mr. Even's who continue to fight against cancer. No donation is too small and every dollar is greatly appreciated!
