Schedule
Week-Of Event Descriptions*:
MONDAY:
NFL Match Day (Monday, September 28)
Hit the Bricks is proud to partner with the NFL Foundation for a special Match Day benefiting cancer research. Throughout the day, donations made to Hit the Bricks will be matched by the NFL Foundation up to a predetermined amount, doubling the impact of your support. Additional giveaways, football-themed activities, and opportunities to engage with the event will be available throughout the day.
Pie a Football Player & Coach (Monday, September 28 | Time TBD)
Members of the Wake Forest football program will join us for one of our most popular fundraising events of the week. Students, faculty, staff, and supporters will have the opportunity to donate for the chance to pie participating players and coaches, with all proceeds benefiting the Brian Piccolo Cancer Research Fund.
Call Day (Monday, September 28 | 5-9 pm)
One of the easiest and most effective ways to support Hit the Bricks is by reaching out to your network. During Call Day, participants are encouraged to spend 30 minutes calling or texting friends, family members, coworkers, alumni, and other supporters to ask for donations. Teams that participate will help generate critical support for cancer research while competing for fundraising incentives and recognition.
TUESDAY:
Pickle for Piccolo (Tuesday, September 29 | 8-10 pm)
Grab a partner and compete in our inaugural Pickle for Piccolo Pickleball Tournament. Men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles brackets will be available. Teams will compete for prizes while raising funds and awareness for cancer research. Registration information and tournament details will be released later this fall.
WEDNESDAY:
HTB Run Club Finale (Wednesday, September 30 | Time TBD)
The final meeting of the Hit the Bricks Run Club will take place the evening before the event. Participants will complete a three-mile run beginning at the Reynolda Trail and finishing on the Upper Quad. The evening will celebrate our runners’ commitment and build excitement ahead of Hit the Bricks.
Brian’s Song Movie Night (Wednesday, September 30 | 7:30-9 pm)
Join us on the Upper Quad for a screening of Brian’s Song, the inspiring story of Brian Piccolo and his lasting legacy. This event provides participants with the opportunity to learn more about the individual whose courage and perseverance continue to inspire Hit the Bricks’ mission. Executive board and committee members will also have the opportunity to pick up their event t-shirts during the evening. No admission fee required.
HTB Run Club Blanket Recognition
Students, faculty, and staff who attend all five Hit the Bricks Run Club sessions will receive a custom Hit the Bricks Run Club blanket in recognition of their dedication and participation throughout the semester.
*All events are subject to change at the discretion of the event directors as needed.
Day-Of Schedule of Events: Thursday, October 1st
Due to the weather, the schedule is subject to change. Please follow our Instagram page for up-to-date announcements and official information.
In addition to our traditional activities during the day-long relay, we will be holding the following events:
Check-in (starts at 9 am)
A team representative should come to the table in front of the Taylor bookstore between 9 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. There, you will pick up your team’s DeaconOne card, backpack, and a bag containing all your team’s t-shirts. If you arrive after 9:45, please plan to check in after the event has started, since we will be working on the opening ceremony.
Set-Up (7 am-10 am)
Team areas on the Quad are claimed on a first-come, first-served basis. Teams should also bring their own tents/tables if they wish. Once you have the Deacon OneCard/backpack and have identified a meeting point on the quad, your team is ready to move around the quad!
Opening Ceremony (9:55 am)
Meet at the stage in front of Wait Chapel. You will hear from special guests, including Dr. Kidd Brown and Dr. Katherine Ansley of the Comprehensive Cancer Center. Please ensure that all members of your team who are present join us for this occasion. The opening ceremony begins promptly at 9:55 am.
Lap Tracking
Each team will have a unique DeaconOne card to track laps. Every time you pass by the big tent, you will scan your card to contribute to your total. Note: Only one person per team can count laps at a time. So, walking or running together will not get you extra laps. For some teams, this means one person running/walking for a long shift at a time. For others, it means passing off the card every single lap. Note: Hit the Bricks 2026 will not offer double-counted laps for carrying the backpack this year. It is still expected that all teams carry the backpack.
Specialty Laps
Throughout the day, teams can participate in themed bonus laps that award more points to their total. Sponsors can sponsor a bonus lap of their choice, if interested. This year’s specialty laps will be announced the week of September 22nd. HTB 2026 will include:
- 10 am – Onesie lap – Nothing says comfort and courage like running your relay lap in a cozy onesie.
- 11 am – Monochrome Outfit Lap – Pick a color and commit to it! The more creative and coordinated your single-color outfit, the better.
- 12 pm – Football lap – Show us your best spin moves, cuts, and jukes while running with a football (with the WFU Football Team).
- 1 pm – Turn the Quad into a dance floor with a live DJ set from Hayden Ingber ’27. Grab a glow stick, bring the energy, and complete your lap to the beat. (Glow sticks provided.)
- 2 pm – Heels lap – Take on the challenge of doing a lap in high heels. Walking recommended.
- 3 pm – Rock your wildest wig on the relay lap to keep spirits high. (Wigs provided.)
- 4 pm – Parent/Family Lap – Parents, siblings, grandparents, and family members are invited to join participants on the course as we celebrate the community that supports Hit the Bricks and the fight against cancer.
Banner Competition (at the start of the day): Teams are invited to paint a banner and bring it to Hit The Bricks. Any teams that bring a banner will receive 10 laps if they participate!
Crossword Puzzle (at the start of the day): Teams will solve a crossword puzzle related to Wake Forest. When it is completed, it will be returned to the starting table for a committee member to check. If it is completed correctly, the team will receive 5 laps!
Fundraising Hour: The team that raises the most from 2-3 pm will gain twenty-five extra laps! A value of over six miles of running!
Penalty Hour: At 3:30 pm, there will be an opportunity for one team in each division to penalize another team. Each team (per division) that donates the highest individual donation within the hour can force one other team (in their division) to run backward for the remainder of the hour. The other team must run backward until they either match the donation or another team donates a higher amount. Failure to run backward when forced results in disqualification from winning the event.
Spikeball Tournament (12 pm-2 pm): As a day-long event, teams that sign up will have representatives play a Spikeball game against another team (matches held throughout the day). Whichever team wins the match will earn laps towards their team in addition to points for attending.
Cornhole Tournament (2 pm-4 pm): As a half-day event, teams that sign up will have representatives participate in a cornhole game against another team. Whichever team wins the match will earn laps towards their team in addition to points for attending. Matches will be held throughout the afternoon to accommodate our many participating teams.
Fundraising Total (all day): Bonus laps are awarded to teams that reach specific fundraising milestones. For each threshold hit, laps will be added to your total. Laps will be awarded as follows:
$50 = +5 bonus laps
$100 = +10 bonus laps
$250 = +15 bonus laps
$500 = +20 bonus laps
$1,000 = +25 bonus laps
$2,500 = +30 bonus laps
$5,000 = +35 bonus laps
$10,000 = +40 bonus laps
$15,000 = +50 bonus laps
$25,000 = +60 bonus laps
